Welcome to my new Substack!

Hey there! I’m a prolific op-Ed writer for two different newspapers in West Virginia, as well as a quarterly publication for the Sierra Club chapter of West Virginia called the Mountain State Sierran. I decided a Substack was the next logical step in getting my writing out there!

For those of you who don’t know me, I’m a 37-year-old father of two and soon-to-be wed to my best friend with whom I’ve shared my life for over 13 years. I’m a resident of Parkersburg, WV where I was born and raised before getting a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in History from Marshall University.

I’m a climate and environmental activist with a nonprofit organization called Mid-Ohio Valley Climate Action; an Assistant State Director for the national organization American Atheists in West Virginia; and a union steward and recruiter in the federal civil service.

I’m also a Democratic Socialist whose political philosophy is influenced by socialist, communist, anarchist and other leftist thought, as well an atheist Humanist. These identities and ideologies may seem at odds with most Central Appalachians, but I can assure you that people like me are actually quite common in the hollers, hills and valleys of West Virginia and Southeast Ohio!
